what’s up my procrastination nation? I’m assuming since you’re reading this post during finals week, you’re procrastinating just as much as I am writing it 🙂 THANKFULLY it was Thanksgiving break this past week and I was able to hit up an awesome event in Miami at The Wynwood Yard hosted by The Dream Lab. I’ve started linking my outfits from posts to shop at the bottom of my post so check out the bottom of this post as well as my previous posts (soon) to shop my looks! now let’s get to it and pump up the jams with Dang! by Mac Miller (feat. Anderson .Paak).
The Dream Lab is a Miami-based creative agency focusing on showcasing underground talent and bringing communities together. It was started by one of my fave girls, Daniela Molina along with Stephanie Labiada and Gabriella Diez. They all work together to run their Instagram, which is always updated with rad, creative photos and their upcoming event flyers!
For Dream Lab’s very first event, they brought out a skateboarding clothing apparel company, Dirts Win, to represent the skateboarding community that is often overlooked and not supported by the city of Miami. This past weekend’s “Saturday Sesh” featured this same company: Dirts Win along with some of my favorites: Shop-Vase and very talented artist Valerie Villa. There were a lot of different activities going on- live music, live collaborative painting, blind contour drawings, and a lot of fun activities and really unique vendors. Below you can see the full list and in the slideshow you can see the different booths set up for all of these amazing activities and even giveaways such as the blind contour drawing of yourself and a “spin the wheel” at Dirts Win to get some free merchandise!
SO, the good news is it’s cooling down in Miami. The bad news is it’s still 80 degrees… I went for my favorite staple: my denim jacket along with this black bodysuit and black leather studded skirt. I’ve been feeling edgy and wearing a lot of black lately and I’ve been really liking how the outfits are coming together! (more to come).
I like this outfit because it’s breezy enough for the Miami sun without making me sweat too much even with the jacket!
Fun fact about my denim jacket? IT’S FAMOUS! Kidding, but just last week, Forever 21 reposted my photo on their Instagram because this denim jacket along with a few of the pins I put on it are from them. I recently bought a few patches to add to the jacket too to make it more of “my own” and I recommend doing something like this with your favorite staple item! I’ve been getting a lot of attention/comments about the pins and how they’re “so me” 🙂
I wore this antic gold chain choker to give the look a more edgy feel.
I love this bodysuit because it’s a plain black that can go with anything but has this stringy shape thing going on all funky in the middle and it looks like the letter “Y” for Yash so it seems like it was made for me… right??
I wore these sunnies to protect my poor, weak retinas from the blazing Miami sun. They’re a gold to add some pop and even MORE funk to my outfit. A hand-me-down rom one of my main girls, Belle Canto.
I went simple for the jewelry with a big watch and two gold bracelets.
Finally, I wore the new loves of my life, these slip-ons. I love the loafer slip on shoe look and I found these socks buried in my closet and thought “These are so Louis XVI!” so I decided to throw them on and rock it. Check out the comparison below… 😉
I hope you guys enjoyed this post about the amazing event hosted by The Dream Lab and my edgy “winter” outfit! Make sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated with the awesome things they are creating and curating!
