Hola mamacitas ricas! I want to start doing some local highlight posts. Basically I want to blog about local artists, businesses, events that I think are hip (hence the name, nip’s hip picks). Let’s get a pump-up song for the first of this kind of post… how about Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? (KIDDING @guti) I’m digging Temperature by Sean Paul because I’ve been listening to the Throwback playlist on Spotify nonstop for weeks now.
For my first post, I wanted to show you guys my experience at Miami’s Gay Pride Parade! I’ve been going to Pride every year at Miami Beach for the past 3 years and it’s always such a good time. This year I went with my squad (minus a few important people) but we had too much fun. I love Pride because everybody is happy and the energy is so positive! Good vibes are everywhere excluding the group of 3 people spreading hatred and being super basic & dzumb saying that homophobia is a sin. BUT I won’t get into that because I’ll get too heated 🙂
Besides that THE ONLY THING that got my panties in a bunch was that I had thought of a killer caption for my pride post on Insta… I even wrote it in my notes the day I thought about it so I wouldn’t forget (yeah, I’m lame, just get over it!) My caption was: I love gay pride weekend so much, I can’t even think straight 😉🌈〰 #foreverproud
Well whatever, right? Pretty funny play on words and kinda original I thought! Then I got to Pride and started snapping my life away and what did one of the filters say?? “I’m so proud, I can’t even think straight.”
I mean okay, I guess I’m so clever that my idea was stolen. But it was a pretty cute filter so I forgave and forgot and still posted a Boomerang on my Insta and used my original caption idea. (Unfortunately, the Boomerang doesn’t play in this post, but click the photo to see it!)
The coolest thing that happened during Pride is that this group of girls came up to my friends and I and they asked if we could help their friend do a promposal. We agreed and held this poster that the girl made that read, “Will you come out and show your pride with me at Prom?” Freakin’ cute! The two girls (prom couple) came up to us and the girl who was being promposed to said yes (obviously, how could you say no to that?) We got it all on Snapchat and we made it to the Miami Gay Pride Snapchat Story! Our 24 hours of fame for a good cause, am I right?
Some of us also were “those girls” and got up on the stage and danced… the only ones besides the fierce drag queens up there. We also had an excuse to wear silly, rainbow/colorful outfits! I got a t-shirt and sewed two rainbow patches on the nips to make them a little more hip, as always! Going to Pride was a perfect way to spend the weekend while supporting an awesome cause. Hopefully all of you can attend a festival like this in your hometowns or come visit Miami for the next parade in April! You have a whole year to save up, there’s no excuse! 😉
stay on point,
