hey all y’all! It’s been awhile, ugh. I always am so on top of my posts and then go on a sketchy hiatus. I haven’t posted in a month! But this time it’s not only because I got busy with school & work but because my laptop just slowly gave out on me. Luckily, that problem was fixed and I’m back at it again with the hip nips! It’s finally almost summer (one more week of classes for my sorry ass) and I’m excited to revamp the blog and get it going again! For this summer dress, listen to One Dance by Drake (song choice from my girl Belle).
So I found this cutie pie dress and didn’t even think twice when I saw it, I just grabbed it and bought it. It’s a pretty minimal dress but I knew it was a cute staple summer dress that I could style with funky patterns and colors! I even went edgy and wore some dark chocolate brown lipstick that made it look like I just made out with a Hershey’s bar… super kewl.
With the dress, I wore these snakeskin printed gladiators that went well with the pastel colored dress. I wanted to add a textured print to it and figured that the neutral brown tones of the shoes wouldn’t clash with the outfit or accessories so it worked out perfectly. (10 points for Gryffindor if you can spot my scary, strained vein popping on my foot…)
The off-shoulder look is super trendy for this spring/summer and I love how this dress incorporates that and also slightly puffy sleeves. This combination adds some femininity to the dress that otherwise doesn’t really have a shape. Also, when buying an off shoulder dress, you want to make sure that it’s not too short. Because if it’s cropped down off your shoulders at the top and then cut off at the bottom, you’ll look like a weird box shape. This length was perfect because it came above the knee but still elongated my body.
As for accessories, you guys are probably sick of this purse but I don’t care! It just goes to show that you can buy a funky item and still have it be a staple piece in your closet. As predicted, I wore some gold bangles and stacked up gold rings. I really love how the stones in my bracelets looked with the purse so I just went for it.
Finally, the winning piece (in my opinion) of this outfit is my new necklace! I got it at Wynwood Art Walk, an event in Miami’s Art District that happens every other Saturday where galleries open up to the public and there are food trucks, live music, clubs/bars with events, and amazing local vendors! Unfortunately, I lost the business card of the woman who I bought this from 😦 But she is a local Miami vendor who made this herself!
Anyway y’all, thanks for tolerating my annoying ass when I’m MIA, hopefully now that summer is coming I won’t abandon you anymore! (I hate writing “you” and talking to “you guys” because I know that the only people who read this are my parents, my boyfriend, and my best friends… but yo whateva).
stay on point,
