It’s only 4 days until Valentine’s Day and all types of smoochie, cheesy, lovey dovey feelings are in the air! Let me start off by saying IT DON’T MATTA IF U HAVE A VALENTINE! Valentine’s Day is about love. Sure, we pretty much made it up so that people could buy their significant others more jewelry/chocolate/stuffed animals but hey, let’s use it to our advantage. It’s also another excuse to be creative with your outfit and how you’ll incorporate a color incorporated with this day in your outfit (red, pink). For this unexpected Valentine’s Day outfit, listen to an unexpected song: Romulus by Sufjan Stevens. And listen to everything else by him, his voice will make you feel like there’s nothing wrong in the world!
As you can see, I wanted my outfit to be half girly/half tomboyish. My top half is the girly part. I wore this super beautiful lace peplum top that I got on sale. I guess you could say it was love at first sight?? I paired it with this blood red headwrap to add the Valentine’s Day feel. On the bottom half, I wore my favorite boyfriend jeans and Adidas superstars.
I honestly love everything about this top. I’m big on a lot of depth to an item of clothing as weird as that sounds. I cry every time I pick up a top and then look at the back of it and find out it has some wicked (yes, I said that) design. I love this criss-cross webbed back.
Another girly thing that I’m obsessed with is bralettes. There are so many different styles out there and they can be cute, comfy, and cover what you don’t what to show in a pretty way. I wore my soft lilac mesh bralette. Since this top is kind of cut low in the front, sides, and back, it was a perfect way to hide what I didn’t want to show but not take away anything from the top itself with its simple design.
Finally, accessories. I usually never wear silver just because gold jewelry is my thang. But, as I mentioned in my GivBag post, this necklace that my friend got me for my birthday is just too pretty to not wear. I paired it with this hand/ring bracelet combo thing going on that’s pretty trendy now. I got this one in India and it went shockingly well with the necklace.
I also wore a few other silver rings with stones that my mom got from India to give my naked hand some love.
So this Valentine’s Day, show yourself some love with an unexpected Valentine’s Day outfit! I didn’t really drown myself in red/pink but I think it’s cool to have subtle touches of those colors in your outfit.
love all of you guys! stay on point,
the hip nip
